Earlier this week, CHAUVET® played a prominent role at one of the most exciting DJ trade shows in the United States. The 2011 DJ Expo, presented by DJ Times magazine, took place at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City and CHAUVET® was in the spotlight as a sponsor of some major event components including seminars, the Promo Only party and the main stage. As a main-stage sponsor, CHAUVET® performed the lighting design and stage setup. The DJ Times Square Stage, where high-profile artists in the industry (like the talented DVDJ Unique) performed, featured an enormous stage illuminated with over 70 CHAUVET® fixtures.
Allan Reiss, product manager for CHAUVET®, selected which products were going to be featured in the setup and designed the light show using ShowXpress (which he ran on his smart phone from the show floor!). Because of the size of the stage, he included the following fixtures in his design: three MotionDrape LED backdrops, eight Q-Beam 260-LED and 11 Q-Spot 260-LED moving heads, two Arena Hazer 3 haze machines, 14 COLORrail, eight SlimPAR Pro RGBA, 18 SlimPAR Pro Tri and six SlimPAR Pro VW wash lights. It took five men (three from CHAUVET®’s product development team and two from DJ Expo) almost seven hours to affix the fixtures to the stage’s flown truss and hang the LED drapes. Once the setup was complete, the light shows went off without a hitch and the crowds went wild as talented DJs went on to spin their hearts out for the four-day show.
