DJ Profile: Deejay Galaga and DJ Bombillo

Posted on January 1, 2013 by webmaster

Alex Lopez, aka Deejay Galaga, and Manny Del Val, aka DJ Bombillo, are collectively known as AM Music and Entertainment Group in Miami. Originally from Miami, Deejay Galaga mixes open format music, but his favorite is club/dance music. He is a graduate of the DJ Scratch Academy, founded by Jam Master J, and has DJ’d at famous venues like the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas as well as large corporate events. DJ Bombillo, who is originally from Cuba, mixes every type of music but specializes in Reggaeton, Latin and House music.  He spins at corporate events and various types of celebrations. One of the interesting twists they bring to open format events is their unique two-DJ style where they alternate every hour during a party so their different styles can be showcased. Read on and get to know more about them.

1. How did you get started as a DJ?
We have been DJing for more than three years. We decided to go to a completely digital format and it has transformed our shows and turned out to be the smartest business decision we ever made.  We invested in the Numark NS7 Digital Turntable system and that allowed us to eliminate hundreds of pounds of gear and exponentially grow our music collection.

2. Is this a full-time job or something you do on the side?
DJing is just a side job — we are both full-time IT engineers.

3. What fixtures are included in your setup?
We have a variety of CHAUVET® DJ fixtures in our setup including: Kinta X, Derby X, Swarm 4 and strobe lights. We are in the process of upgrading our entire setup to LED fixtures.

4. What is your favorite fixture and why?
We love all our effect lights because they add a lot of flavor to our music.

5. Best advice you can give someone just getting started in the DJ industry?
Our advice is simple:  listen and prepare.  Listen to what your clients are saying, and more importantly, not saying.  Get your head out of your booth and take a look around to see what’s working. So many DJs just spin music and don’t listen to the dance floor.  Secondly, make sure you’re prepared. Preparation starts from the moment you speak to a client to the moment you play the last track. Details make the event go from ordinary to extraordinary.

6. What are your top three most requested songs?
The Motto” by Drake, “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO and “Where Have You Been” by Rihanna.
