Not bad for beginner BT Tech
Obviously, with any new wireless technology, these will have flaws. With that in mind, I slowly began buying BT fixtures from Chauvet in order to offer uplighting packages to clientele at an easy level. So far, the Q4s have met my needs. The color mixing leaves some to be desired, but it is decent for the price of the unit. I agree with the other reviews that brightness could be better considering the specs. However, I have not had problems connecting all four to the app. Once in a blue moon, the app might not recognize these fixtures, but after numerous hours of use, I am satisfied with their performance. THe battery life is really good for what I was expecting. They do last a good while. All in all, I do not regret my purchase. They do the job at a level which clients will be happy with. Obviously, I will be able to find imperfections, as I am used to these lights. But, so far, so good. I really hope they continue to develop the app and release updates frequently, as this new tech has so much potential. I already love the easy of use with my iPad. Not bad chauvet, not bad at all.
EZPar not so easy
I returned a Chauvet Freedom Par quad 4 in order to get 2 of these ezlink Par q4 BTs. My reasons being the reported luminescence on these are higher, they weigh less, cost less, and use bluetooth rather than just a remote. Sounds like a good deal right? Well on a side to side comparison they do not seem to be brighter or even as equally bright as the freedom par quad 4’s. So that was a bit disappointing. Then came the time to try out the bluetooth app. Took about 45 minutes for me to really get it to pair. Tried all sorts of things and the weirdest thing that worked was not pairing it through my phones bluetooth first, just going straight into the app and pairing from there. Odd. I really wish I read the reviews of the app before purchasing these lights since they are quite brutal on how infrequent these devices do not connect. Not to mention Chauvet has not released an update to the app for android since March, so I am unsure if they are just dropping the line for now since they released a new updated version of flaircon (which the first version seemed to have quite a bit of issues also). I am also not a fan that this design does not have any holes to use for mounting. A simple hole in the handle would suffice, but they decided not to. So to meet my use case I either need to drill a hole in the handle or use zip ties? Luckily it is light so It isn’t that difficult. At the end of the day they will still meet my use case, I just wish the brightness was as advertised and chauvet actually provided support for their products such as their app.
Perfect little battery par!
I love this light! small, compact and strong as can be. fits perfectly under my trussing and blends perfectly around the room. the bluetooth works flawlessly and i have had zero problems.
