CHAUVET DJ:
How would describe your company?

image3Sarita:
The company can be described as high-end custom entertainment. Since, I’m a sole proprietor I do everything from build and maintain the website, negotiate contracts with clients, buy and maintain all the gear audio and lighting, design the show, and program the music.

CDJ:
How did you get started DJing?

S:
I got started very young around 12 doing back yard parties for family. I asked my dad to make me a disco ball. He actually took a mirror to the local hardware store and had it cut into small squares to make an actual disco ball. Needless to say it was too heavy to use anywhere. The memory of that disco ball afternoon remains and the passion and desire for DJing only grew. When I came back from the military the only thing that helped with my PTSD was the music, I have now been professionally mobile DJing for 21 years.

CDJ:
What do you look for in the DJs that work for you?

S:
Everyone that has worked for me and is currently working for me must have the passion for all kinds of music. The desire to work hard, party harder and be equal contributors to the clients’ vision.

CDJ:
How does lighting play a part in your company?

S:
Lighting is a very important part of our company. I am constantly researching and trying new ideas to apply to the events we work at. The staff at our local music store know me by first name. They even have my cell phone number to call when new stuff comes.

How do you think lighting affects a party?Screen Shot 2014-11-07 at 3.44.48 PM

S:
I believe that lighting is ambiance. Light creates a mood and enhances and completes the vision. Lighting takes us on a romantic spotlight first dance or a roller coaster ride full of effects of ups and downs combined with the perfect program of music. Lighting becomes a mobile entertainer’s paint on a canvas dance floor. With the constant creation of new LED fixtures the limit is only left to the imagination.

CDJ:
What CHAUVET DJ fixtures do you currently use?

S:
Core Bar 4
LED follow spot 75ST
COLORPalette
SlimPAR 38
SlimPAR 56
SlimPAR 64
Hurricane 1301
