kNOWING HOW TO USE THEM IS THE KEY
sEEN THE REVIEWS. i BOUGHT TWO TO REPLACE AGING gLACIATORS AND FOUND THAT THEY WERE MORE THAN ACCEPTABLE. aS OTHERS HAVE SAID ITS USING THE RIGHT FLUID AND SETTINGS. wE HAD TWO WORKING ON AN aDDAMS FAMILY PRODUCTION AND THEY WORKED REALLY WELL aND NO CO2 OR DRY ICE TO DEAL WITH. DOWNSIDE, THEY ARE A LITTLE CHEAP LOOKING IN BUILD QUALITY BUT THEIR SIZE MEANS THEY CAN BE STUCK UNDER STAGING REALLY EASILY UNLIKE BIGGER MACHINES.
Fog Rising up
Hi. My dad just got your CHAUVET DJ CUMULUS, however fog is going up, Ive been using the recommended juice for the machine but it still rises. What should be the right setting for the volume level ? Interval time ? which im seeing on the screen panel for setting.
You Need THe Right Settings Or It Won't Give yOU THe Effect YOu Are Expecting
We stock the numbus and cumulus among other machines and can say that 95% of the issues people are having where they have given bad reviews is purely because they are either using the wrong fluid combos and/or have the settings wrong. As a hire company we can stock any brand of machine and do indeed stock a number of different brands including LM’s and other industry standards but this machine does hold its own. We had the same first impression of it not being a great machine but then spent some time trying different settings and fluids and came up with the correct system. You must use a dense low level fog fluid with the machine. I think the wrong information has filtered down and even on YouTube some videos are wrong. Do not use anything aside from low Level Fog in combination with Distilled Water. Secondly you must have the settings as 1% fan and 100% volume. Any other settings will not give you half as good effect and you will get smoke rising. With the onboard low level fog tank full and the 7L of distilled water tank full this will give you a consistent minimum of 3 hours of continuous output (but also up to 3.5 hours we have recorded with these settings). One thing to keep in mind is the environment. If you have a draft then of course the smoke isn’t going to hug for as long as it would in a controlled environment. Also you need to think about how co2 is different to smoke fluids when looking at alarms and as always best to test in advance. If you have read the reviews and are still not sure then the best advice is to find a local company that hires the units out like we do and ask them to demo it for you. Hire companies have real world experience and know how to get the best out of the equipment they stock. We are always happy to run demos for people to come and check out the kit.
Worked better and worse than expected
I rented 2 of these units for a theatre production, and im pleased to say the set up was the easiest thing anyone could ever do. Dmx and CONTROLs were very straight forward. It took no time at all to heat up, as soon as i hit go on the etc light board, the FOGGERs came to life immediately. The fog also stayed low to The ground *hugged the ground* as stated in The description, even with moving actors, and a very large open theater space. However,… the AMount of fog produced was very disappointing, i barely got any coverage over The stage, even with 2 running. I tried fans on high low and medium. Nothing seemed to work, wish more fog was produced, can someone please help on this. I need it to fill The Entire stage.. help!!
I would have gave it a 5 but, it is a bit heavy glad it has wheels and the only way to get the best effect is to run the fan speed on low very low and it works great. I do wish you could get the same effect with the fan higher. the fog does stay close to the ground and it looks pretty good. it’s no dry ice but it sure is close. if you want to fog a room this will do the job. we have a 20×30 work shop and to have a room full of fog it didn’t take long. and to put down a nice low laying fog just a couple of mins. I’m not sure how well it will work in a room full of people and with fans on but it is all about the first look when they come in to the room . we are happy with it.
Does not work how chauvet says it will
after speaking with a chauvet sales rep, they convinced us to purchase this unit instead of the dry ice cloud machine. Though the unit was almost twice as much, the thought of not having to use dry ice was a great selling point. i was told it created a great low cloud and was super easy to use. i watched the promo video and was impressed, so we made the purchase. fast forward a few weddings later and i can tell you this machine is nothing more than a glorified hazer. unlike what the video shows, or what the chauvet represented, this is not a cloud machine. unless the room it’s used in is extremely small, has absolutely no airflow or human movement, and is lit perfectly, it looks terrible. do not buy this unit unless you want to disappoint yourself, and more importantly, your clients.
