SUNRISE, Fla. – CHAUVET DJ’s new COLORband Hex 9 IRC is an extraordinary wash light, capable of producing virtually any color imaginable– brilliant jeweltones, delicate pastels, multi whites and even glowing ultra violet  — thanks to its cutting-edge 6-in-1 RGBAW+UV LED technology.  But color washing is just the beginning of what this amazingly versatile 3.5- foot (1.07 M) linear strip light can do.

Armed with 9 high-output 7-watt LEDs, which emit a brawny 2,476 lux at 2 meters, the COLORband Hex 9 IRC is also powerful enough to serve as an audience blinder at concerts and stage shows. Plus, with 3 independent zones of control, it can create eye-popping chase effects –all of which gives the COLORband Hex 9 IRC the versatility to function as “three lights in one.”

This triple-duty capability, along with its 6-in-1 (red, green, blue, amber, white, ultra violet) LEDs, make the COLORband Hex 9 IRC a perfect tool – and an excellent dollar value – for DJs, mobile entertainers, bands and event companies.  “Users can rely on this one versatile fixture to fill a lot of different illumination needs, whether it’s uplighting walls at a wedding or banquet, electrifying a concert audience with blinder effects, or putting on a high-energy chasing lightshow at a dance club,” said Rick Peeples, Product Manager for CHAUVET DJ.

aurora1Even more impressive — the COLORband Hex 9 IRC can do all of the above while providing users with more color rendering options than ever before, thanks to its exciting HEX LED technology, “With its 6-in-1 LEDs, you can smoothly blend any color imaginable– from bold primaries to true pastels and subtle tints, even hard-to-create oranges and golds,” Peeples said.  “The COLORband Hex 9 IRC can also achieve a large spectrum of color temperatures to produce many variants of white, ranging from warm tungsten to stark daylight.”  The presence of an ultra violet diode provides even more options, he pointed out, allowing the COLORband Hex 9 IRC to serve as a black light, or its UV can be combined with other colors to create unique iridescent shades that “aren’t possible with most other wash lights.”

Many of the COLORband Hex 9 IRC’s features can be easily accessed with an optional CHAUVET DJ IRC-6 infrared remote controller (sold separately), which works wirelessly from distances up to 15 feet (4.6 M). The IRC-6 gives users simple point-and-shoot command of the fixture’s static colors as well as its automated and sound-active programs.

For more customized designs and effects, the COLORband Hex 9 IRC can be controlled via DMX.  Here too, the fixture is extremely versatile with multiple DMX profiles available (6-, 9-, 11-, 18- or 23-channel) to accommodate simple and complex programming needs.

The COLORband Hex 9 IRC can also be linked in multiples using CHAUVET DJ’s CBB-6 rigging bracket (sold separately), which is designed specifically for the company’s linear fixtures.  Each CBB-6 bracket can hold up to 6 units and allows users to maintain a uniform pixel pitch for a coordinated lightshow across multiple fixtures. Featuring multi-voltage operation (100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz), the COLORband Hex 9 IRC can be power linked up to 7 units @ 120V and 13 units @ 230V.

With no moving parts and a 50,000-hour LED life, the COLORband Hex 9 IRC is virtually maintenance-free. Its silent operation makes it ideal for noise-sensitive environments. The unit has a 21° beam angle and includes a variable strobe effect (0 to 20 Hz). Weighing just 10.8 pounds (5 kg), it measures 41.3 x 3.2 x.6.9 inches (1,049 x 82 x 176 mm), enabling it to fit into CHAUVET DJ’s CHS-60 VIP Gear Bag for safe, convenient transport and storage.
